    Password Manager

Can anybody recommend a decent password manager?

I have a reasonable secure password but want to make it very secure.

Also with having money all over the place I could do with somewhere I can keep a secure list so that if anything were to happen to me someone could track it all down.

I think Munk was using one but the obvious worry is that the software itself is compromised.

I use Roboform and personally I think it's pretty good. I can't rememember the name of the one that Munk uses but as far as I know he was equeally happy with it.

There are so many features with Roboform. It's all encrypted, you can have multiple profiles (so you can store all your passwords, and also those of your spouse for instance on a different profile).

I find it very useful since I can log into websites instantly. This obviously helps if, for instance you've found an arb on a bookie you haven't used for ages and can't remember the password. With Roboform, one click and you're in.

Then once you're logged in, you realise that you're account isn't loaded...arrgggh.

You try to load it, the card you have registered expired in 1959 and you never registered Moneybookers as a payment method....arrgggh.

By the time you've sorted all that you're ready to place the bet but the odds have moved.....arrggh.

Yup - I can pretty much concur with that Los.

If you purchase "Roboform ToGo" it goes on a memory stick and you can take wherever, and login from any computer. Handy if you want to login to a site from work for instance.

When I trialled Roboform and then uninstalled it, it gave me the option of getting it for free - free being that instead of paying $30 for Roboform, you just spent at a partner site (I bought ink myself), met the £20 spend on ink and then got Roboform free... obviously, it's not free so to speak but instead of paying the same price and only getting the code, you get something else and get the code. There was a variety of things you could choose to do like buy from Virgin Wines, sign up to Experian, sign up to LoveFilm and so on. The whole thing worked through a site called trialpay. Anyway, if it sounds of interest, just uninstall the trial heh.

    I always use Keepass:

    KeePass Password Safe

Excellent. All there is to say really. (Re: 'the obvious worry is that the software itself is compromised.'? Should be fine if you download it from the URL above, if you're REALLY security concious then you could verify the CRC file.)

I tried Roboform a long long time ago now and back then you had to pay for it if I remember correctly (although there was a free version which was limited in some way maybe). Seemed OK and who knows if it was totally free then maybe I might have continued to use it, but all I know is Keepass does the job I need it to do very well, so don't need anything else really.

I think I posted an extended post about how I use Keepass here:

Not sure why you posted all that Rogsmith? lol - although I am a little worse for wear as I type this so maybe it's me.

For anyone using Roboform I would also recommend their sister programme "Goodsync" which is basically used for a back up. In my case I have Roboform to go, and if I add a new password whilst I am out on the move I can just sync that new information to the Roboform on my home computers.

I also back up my betting records with one click - very important in my opinion as only a couple of months ago I "got lazy" about backing up as you do, and s*d me as soon as I did that I had a problem and I had to go through a few days worth of bets updating my records. I am not exactly what you call time rich so it really p*ssed me off having to do this, so I have made sure I got back into the habit of backing up every night. It's not as if it takes ages - it literally is one click.

I also find myself using a lot of roboforms other features, like "safenotes" - used for storing essential information wherever you go.
