Skybook was purchased by BP not long ago. Skybook is down for me.
Have a plan and stick to it
Thanks for the link. I use roboform to log in and it use to take me to the old website. Maybe they took the old one down

Apologies if this has been said elsewhere on TGT (I did search but couldn't find any reference to this) or if it's common knowledge (but obviously wasn't to me!).
If you suddenly find that you can't reach the Pinnacle website but seem to be able to reach others then you may have had your IP blocked by Pinnacle themselves. (You can check if the site is actually down here: It's just you.).
They have some reasonably stringent backend server rules that will ban an IP if it perceives it as a threat, i.e. you have been refreshing the prices too many times (and before you ask, I don't know how many is too many).
This is something I discovered the hard way - I didn't think I had been excessive in refreshing prices, but the Pinnacle IT rules thought different and banned my IP. Result: I couldn't reach the Pinnacle site.
The main problem with this, is that you don't know that this is what has happened; there is no redirection to another page (perhaps for the first and second re-attempt to visit the site after having your IP banned) that politely informs you that you have had your IP banned and need to contact CS.
Anyway, I did a bit of searching and came across a useful thread on SBR (Pinnacle down? - Sports Handicapping, Betting & Picks - SBR Forum). This then led me to resolving my issue and I thought it might be worth while posting this info just in case anyone else happens to come unstuck on this.
Like I said earlier, if this is common knowledge then I apologise for 'wasting' forum space .
(I have to say a quick thank you to nin2k, jono1988 and loikloik for trying to access Pinnacle in the Chatbox earlier today when I asked if anyone else could get to the site).
Thanks for that - I had meant to post about this because I had the same problem twice in the space of one week a few weeks ago. Was a bit frustrating because I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary, wasn't using a bot/their xml feed etc, just using a plain web browser.
The only thing I can think is I perhaps had two windows / multiple tabs open by mistake at the same time which might have caused enough requests to go to them for the same page which triggered the blocking.
Anyway my tips would be to be careful not to open more than one web browser window at the same time, especially if you've got the 'dynamic' updates going.
Also I have a feeling that Internet Explorer was to blame for me getting blocked twice in a week. I can't prove it but I'd just moved from using Chrome as my browser for Pinnacle over to IE and I got blocked not long after starting to use IE. Had to contact them to unblock me and then within a few days it happened again using IE.
I think maybe IE uses some kind of prefetching to fetch pages in advance, very vague guess but I just don't have a problem when I use Chrome at all, only in IE. So if you are having trouble with IE and getting blocked by Pinny, maybe try switching to another browser (like I say Chrome works fine for me).
FWIW as well it's worth reading the information on the XML feed:
That is actually in reference specifically to the use of the XML feed, so it's not really for browser users... but none-the-less they do say there 1 request per minute for the XML feed otherwise you get blocked. They can't use the same kind of blocking threshold for browser users though, that would be madness... not sure what the threshold is for browsers, can't be 1 per minute though...
Please refrain from using a very high frequency of calls to the xml feed. Pinnacle Sports reserves the right to monitor usage of the XML feed and block the IP address range of any user that abuses this service. 1 call per minute is considered an acceptable usage of the feed.
Interesting comment about using Chrome/IE munk. I had been using IE as well and actually d'loaded Chrome last night to see if I could get to the Pinny site using it (but obviously no joy with a banned IP). Now that my IP has been unbanned however, I'll try using Chrome exclusively for Pinny - see what happens!
It is also never a good idea to have multiple tabs open with pinnacle. I have done that a few times and it has led to them blocking my IP. They are usually extremely quick to take care of it if you e-mail them, but you may miss a lot of opportunities in the minutes you can not access the site.
I think www188.pinnaclesports.com should get you to the front page of pinnacle regardless of whether or not your IP is blocked, but you will not be able to log in.
International (non-uk) customers always bet with Betfair Malta. As I understand it the exchange should work as normal for people inside the UK.

Scheduled downtime for Neteller
As you have probably been reminded a few times if you use it, Neteller will be performing maintenance from tonight at 2200 UTC to 1000 UTC tomorrow morning.
Just a reminder that the NETELLER system will be going offline for a major back-end system upgrade on 21 September from approximately 22:00 UTC to 10:00 UTC (22 September 2010).
You'll want to take advantage of this opportunity to fund your account and transfer to your favourite merchants before the outage begins.
For the duration of the upgrade, our systems will be temporarily unavailable and you will be unable to transfer money using NETELLER. Net+ cardholders will also be unable to use either their physical or virtual cards.
I've been having some problems over the last 2-3 days accessing the Expekt site. Mainly the problem is with entering my username/password - I get a 'login error' message everytime I try and login. If I goto the forgotten password page and enter my details there, I get a temporary password sent out, but when I change the password (you're forced to do that after receiving the temp password), the new password won't work the next time I go to login (although thankfully it leaves me logged in at that time to check on my balance/see bets/place bets/etc, pretty soon I will use the opportunity to just withdraw I think if it carries on!).
I emailed support about it and initially they sounded surprisingly useful, they said they were doing some maintenance on their servers recently so that could be the cause of the problem. Also oddly they asked me for the 'bapp' code from the page I was trying to login from (asked me to view the source for the expekt home page I was logging in at). Unfortunately after I sent it to them they seemed to completely ignore it and instead replied saying 'clear cache and cookies' which is generally 98% of the time not useful (and definitely not relevant here since I'd already told them I'd tried logging in from various different PCs and browsers!).
Anyway, now I just tried logging in again and it looks like they might still be having maintenance problems, I just got redirected to a maintenance page that says:
So maybe I'll wait a couple of days to see if this is anything to do with the problem.

Please be aware that you may experience problems accessing expekt.com and placing your bets. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and are working to solve the problem as soon as possible. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
if you require any assistance.
I know a few people on chatbox the other day said they could login fine, so maybe it's just me, but just in case anyone else is having problems I thought I'd post about it.
