Moneybookers £1000 FSCS limit and fractions of pennies
I had been trying to make sure my moneybookers account stayed below £1K for some time so I could keep the FSCS protection.
Anyway thought I'd post this experience in case anyone else was trying to keep the FSCS protection in place (doubtless a lot of you gave up on this ages ago!).
Simple version of story...
I moved money out of moneybookers to zero moneybookers account. Then I withdrew £1K into moneybookers. Got the message to accept losing FSCS protection. Didn't want to lose FSCS protection so emailed CS. CS say moneybookers store current balance to 6 decimal places in GBP i.e. to one ten thousandth of a pence !!!!!!!!!!!!
Consequently upload of £1K plus fractions of pence means I go over £1K and have to accept losing FSCS protection because I can't move out fractions of a penny.
Genius - you couldn't make it up!
I've noticed a number of times in the past that when you do forex transactions the totals in your statement don't 'add up' to your balance - ie if you have £100 in your account and you make a forex transaction of £50 (it says '£50' on your MB statement), sometimes your balance will say £49.99 or £50.01. Is a bit daft really and obviously not going to complain about it...
