Williamhill stole winnings
Hello guys. Need some help or advice please. More then 2 months ago i opened account at Williamhill sportsbook. Placed a lot of bets on differents matches and all was ok. Last time my ballance was around 27-28$ thousands. all bets were settled and my account, ballance and limits were ok. And after that i placed bets on one more match and won again. Yes i placed more then one bet on that match, but i've done that and in the past when lost/won money and there were no problems with settling. I saw that bets on last match i placed are still have open status even after 2 or 3 days, but i still had access to my account. After that i requested withdraw money that are not in open bets (i mean that were won on others previous bets and matches). Support requested documents to verify my account, and i sent all that they requested. They confirmed that with docs is all ok, but blocked access to my account and ballance, without paying out. When i asked reason, they told that there is some kind of investigation because of last match bets, something like suspicious betting pattern as they said. They told that await answer from authorities and that soon it will be resolved. So soon it will be around 3 months, and i still receive same answer, that they are still await answer from investigators. When i asked to give me access to my account they declined my request. After that i told that i agree to wait result of investigation but asked to pay my previous winnings that were before last stakes on ballance (around 27-28k$). On that request i received decline and that i agreed rules during the registration. I contacted their regulator - Gibraltar Gambling Comission and IBAS. Ibas readressed me to GGC, and GGC told same things as WH, that they are awaitng answer from ESSA. But as i think and read here and on other forums, i have right to receive previous winnings if they are not related with math from opened bets. I also asked some other bookies about that situation and they told it is true.
As i read here, there is possibility to adress to court. But i am not from UK, and amount is more then 2k euros. I will be glad to here your advices. Thanks alot
Sorry, not sure I understand.
Are the matches you bet on being investigated by the authorities for being fixed? Or are William Hill themselves saying that your betting patterns alone are suspicious?
In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.
No, all previous bets on all previous matches were not problem. All bets were settled properly. That was about 27-28$k. After that were bets on match that was last on my account. Just for it WH tsais there were suspicious betting patterns for some users including me. With previous winnings and matches all was ok without problems.
They actually gave me this once before when I got casino banned and they decided to 'investigate my account for suspicious betting patterns' [in the casino; though I only played roulette] and I forgot to push them on it. Only remembered 4 months later and when I logged in and spoke to them I was still 'under investigation'. I'm not sure what your situation is but I believe they don't actually conduct the investigation until you start pushing them regularly as 3 weeks of daily harassment liberated my funds.
It is very concerning of course that they never update you about anything a long the way but its just part of the game and other than taking them to the small claims court or whatever the equivalent is where you reside there isn't much you can do.

If the GGC have confirmed to you that the case is under investigation, then there's not much point in taking action until the investigation is completed (ie it's not a case of William Hill giving some random excuse not to pay you, they must have had serious suspicions if they've taken it to the ESSA). Once the investigation is complete, you'll have your money back and it will all be done with, or you'll have lost the money and only then can you pursue them via the courts with the help of a solicitor - or maybe issue an appeal with the ESSA perhaps.

But if you've done nothing wrong then it's hard to see how they'll pin anything on you; if all they're basing their allegations on is a list of bets then they've surely no leg to stand on (alternatively if they have people come forward to say that they accepted money from you to throw a match ... well... ).
For that amount of money and complication I think a solicitor is probably the way forward.
Have you had any kind of dialogue with the ESSA? Have they given you any idea how long the investigation will take? I guess not reading your post. Have you explained your situation to them (presuming in all of this you really are innocent )? What do they say? Of course anyone accused of match fixing will say they're innocent though so I suppose they will be unlikely to want to talk to you about it outside of any legal framework.
