My name is Mick, aka BurnleyMik. I have been playing poker since 2003 and have since been running my own poker forum and community at www.raisetheriver.com.
Andy has asked me to help out with the poker area of the forum as he is usually so busy it doesn't really get much attention and hopefullly I can bring a little something to maybe re-spark the interest of some players who don't play anymore or even generate the interst of new players.
Poker is a fantastic game and despite the general consensus that it is a gambling game, there is also a huge skill side to the game. The good players can often put themselves into the best positions to make the most of almost any situation, regardless of what cards they have in their hands.
There are literally hundreds and hundreds of books been written about strategy and thats just on the one variation of the Poker, No Limit Holdem.
No Limit Hold'em (aka NLHE) is my game of choice, I usually play either Sit n Go's, which are simply sit down with a set number of chips each and a set number of players and play down to a winner. I also often play 6-max Cash games.
I would assume with the knowledge/skills some of you guys have and show around match betting, there would be some very big potential.
I will start posting up some tips, strategy and advice over the coming weeks that could hopefully be of use to some of you.
I won't rattle on here anymore, but if you have any questions feel free to ask away, either here or via PM.
