The problem with this style of trading, is that its basically just gambling. No one can tell whats going to happen once a game starts. Just takes one goal, the loss of a whicket, a good punch, and you can be in real trouble.
I trade a lot, but never in play, once the game starts my job is done. Trading pre game takes most of the risk out, yet you can still make decent money
Fender, what market's do you prefer. I like backing horse and laying off in play especially when I can find front runners before the off. It's a simple approach and not foolproof but I do reasonable well.
I've started trading again, generally backing/laying results, and odd occasions letting bets ride.
I have various systems which are time consuming and I believe work(if done manually), but have never quite been able to get any of these automated systems through excel to quite follow my logic if you know what i mean.
Has anyone else here had any issues creating trading logic into bots, and have you found any good solutions to this?
I guess I could start by asking say have you got a bot who will back the second favourite on all horse races at say Kelso, or back the home team in the SPL or something - has anyone been able to do something like this?
Have you checked out The Geekstoy? It's entirely free (apart from regular 'harrassment' by the creator for some contributions to fundraisers he does), apparently very flexible and powerful, and gets good reviews. I am not trading, only using it occasionally instead of Betfair.
Many moons ago I played with MarketFeederPro - it definitely lets you do things like betting on all 2nd favs etc etc etc. It's not free, and I only used it in "play" mode, never placed real bets with it. Mainly because my 'strategies' proved to be completely naff, and I resorted to the safe haven of arbing again. I'd think there is a good chance the Geekstoy will let you do similar, and probably better, things.
Doing any trading with the spreadsheet-based bots is IMO loaded with problems. For starters, they are way to sluggish, and you'll find it very hard to do anything other than basic stuff with them.
This may be of interest to some people on here. I have recently been following the tips on the forum at cash-matters.com (All new Daily Horse Tips - Trading - Cash Matters) and making small profits. Started with just £20 back stakes and am now up to £50. Not huge profits but I tend to tradeout early and keep kicking myself for not waiting longer. A few quid each time they come in (which they usually do as the are such short odds) which all adds up at the end of the month.
