Twelve juveniles will go to post for the Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket tomorrow a race dominated in recent years by Aidan O’Brien who has saddled the last three winners of this Gp 1 contest and is chasing a 24^th Gp1 success of the calendar year – just one shy of the legendary American trainer Bobby Frankel.

Ryan Moore will have had the choice of mounts of the three Ballydoyle runners and he has plumped for Happily, who is the 2/1 market leader at BetVictor with stablemates Magical (10/3) and September (4/1) next in the betting.

Troubled Ayr must pass an 8am inspection to see if racing can go ahead this afternoon but no such problems at Exeter who have perfect jumping ground (good to soft) for their seven-race card.

Blu Cavalier is a winning bumper horse and will have his supporters for Paul Nicholls, but If The Cap Fits (2.10) wasn’t beaten far in the Aintree Bumper following two Bumper wins at Plumpton and Taunton and he is taken to make a winning debut over timber for Harry Fry.

Jockey Noel Fehily reported in Paul Ferguson’s Jumpers To Follow 2017-18 that the five-year-old had schooled very well ahead of his debut and this extended two-and-a-quarter-miles looks an ideal starting point.

Seven Kingdoms (3.45) won over C&D from a 4lbs lower mark on only his second start over fences and he can follow up returning from a break for trainer David Dennis who had a good winner at Huntingdon earlier in the month. Jockey Noel Fehily has been in the plate for the selection’s two career wins and takes the mount again this afternoon.

The Novice Chase looks a match between Coastal Tiep (4.20) and Wotzisname and preference is for the former who was rated 5lbs inferior to the letter over timber. I remember being very impressed with Wotzisname’s hurdles win at Exeter last April, but he made mistakes on his chase debut and fell in two of his seven points.

Coastal Tiep was brought down at the fourth in a point-to-point last May, before winning a later race on the same card by six lengths! He has the scope to jump a fence and gets a narrow vote.

There is a fabulous Mares’ Novices’ Chase at Worcester, which is worth the admission fee alone, but a watching brief is advised given none of the principles have jumped a fence in public.

Counter Shy (3.55) caused a 14/1 shock when beating Banditry over C&D on his seasonal debut and that form has been franked by the subsequent win of the runner up. The selection is penalised 6lbs for last month’s win and that tempers confidence, given there are any number of unexposed sorts in the field including Sword Of Fate although Tom Lacey’s runner will certainly get further in time.

There is a good card at Chelmsford this evening and Boynton (7.15) returns to the track for the first time since finishing third in the Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last July. The selection had won his two previous career starts, perhaps significantly has not been gelded in the interim period and holds an entry in Saturday’s Gp 3 Darley Stakes.

This American bred colt has not raced on an all-weather surface, but he is bred to appreciate tonight’s underfoot conditions and the booking of William Buick suggests he is ready to do himself justice despite his 443-day lay-off.
