Paddy’s Panama pay-out!

Panama have finally made their mark on the World Cup  – by scoring against Tunisia, the international minnows have cost bookmaker Paddy Power £700,000.

That’s because the bookie offered odds of 100/1 pre-tournament that all 32 World Cup teams would score two or more goals for the first time in history.

After Poland’s winner against Japan earlier in the day, that left just Panama on one goal scored, until Jose Luiz Rodriguez’s first-half strike.

Amongst the winners celebrating tonight is one punter whose £150 bet has earned them £15,000 in winnings.

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “I feel a right Pan-ana after that goal. Panama haven’t given their fans too many reasons to celebrate this tournament, but that strike will be cheered loudly by hundreds of punters across the country.”
