World Cup Preview – England v Japan

England face Japan in their final game in Group D, knowing they will finish top if they avoid defeat.

A draw or better for The Lionesses will see them face a third place side, but that would also mean they could very well face France and USA before the final.

However, coach Phil Neville insists his side are focused on winning very game, no matter who they might face down the line and he will not be playing a weakened side against Japan.

“There were five or six permutations, now that’s been whittled down, and there are pitfalls in finishing first and second,” said Neville.

“We’ve got a long way to gom but we are going out to win it with the strongest possible team.

“My view is that we want to win seven games in this World Cup.”
