I've had a dabble on the tennis & horses over the last 2 evenings.. - always keeping it at £2 stakes.. I've staked just over £300 now.. - and I'm a massive 80p in profit!! will probably be on the horses again this afternoon.

I think knowing when to stop is a lesson to be learnt for me.. - I consistently keep turning an ok-ish profit into a small loss! v. frustrating!

The hedge button has saved me from a larger loss a couple of times - when I've let the race go in-play and the odds start shooting up on a horse that I've been queuing low odds for - a quick stab of the hedge button has kept me from losing the whole stake.

I've also received a £5 welcome and a £25 RAF bonus.. what are others doing with this? - withdrawing or getting on a long-term market?

    good luck all!

I did ok last night in my own challenge which is to claw back the £50 I lost..Having redeposited £20 (against the rules so I am out) I set my default buttons to £2 and traded a few horses. I ended about 40p up from 2 races (about 248 races to go at that rate to get my £50 back) just by backing and laying £2 a few times before the start of the race. I did it about 8 times and only backed below my lay once. I'm going to try a new approach tonight.

Does anyone know and easy way to get betfair odds into excel?

just copy and paste work pretty well. i use excel to compare betfair/888/paddy/sunderlands for tennis offers and the input requires a bit of manipulation but it works nicely

Thought this site might be of use to people trading on US horses as it gives a live feed to the race starts as they don't always start as Betfair states.

I've just added you to the 'unconfirmed' group now so you should see a new notice telling you what happens next. Basically as soon as I can confirm the registration you get moved to the next 'confirmed' group and you get details about how to obtain the ladder access. Keep visiting the site basically!

Do as you see fit, ideally just withdraw it or perhaps transfer it to casino, I think having it on a long term market just complicates things a bit really.

How do people feel about allowing anyone that's 'bust out' of the challenge being allowed to re-deposit and be eligible for the weekly prizes but NOT eligible for the overall prizes? I think this is fair, seems a shame to disallow people a chance at the weekly trade of the week prizes if they've bust out.

As for getting odds into Excel, not sure what you mean there - if you mean via the Betfair API system then there's no way to do that via BetTrader unfortunately. If you mean odds on the events you've bet on then you should be able to do it via the p&l perhaps (although maybe that only allows you to download the overall p&l for each market rather than individual bets placed in each market).

    I didn't bust out..I was stupid!

I think you should leave it how it is for the moment. We may all have bust out before the end of the challenge.

I was hoping that bettrader would do it. I can code something myself to use the betfair API to get the prices but was wondering if there was an easier way. I'm wanting to look for possible patterns on horses etc but need to record as much data as possible.

I'd like to be able to record all price movements in a race for a period (say 15 mins) prior to a race and in-play.

edit. Here's the screengrab for the wonky gui, when I click a selection to back or lay I see this:

Can i ask if this problem was solved. Both my lappy and home pc are the same. I reset the display to the recommended levels but not sure what to do next...I emailed over at racing traders but had no reply yet....

Hi member03030, that was me with the gui problem and sadly I have not been able to resolve the issue, although it does not seem to affect the ladder interface which I have now got up and running with my free months worth of ladder from Adam at racingtraders. After now uninstalling and reinstalling .NET a couple of times so I just started with ver. 1.1 I now also have a problem with .NET updating so I've now got to get that sorted, but at the mo I'm trying to get my head round this ladder interface where the colours seem to be reversed to what I'm used to so I'll start with £2 stakes, I've got the buttons set up with the low stakes and maybe I'll start opposing Murray everytime he goes too low as I think things may not go so smoothly for him.

Did "OK" today, up to £63 now running total. Still highest win per market is £10ish from earlier, even though at one stage I was +£13 either way on the Murray match by the time it was settled I had traded it down to +£8 only on Roddick.
Have a plan and stick to it

Lost £4 on the stupid ashes first test. How can the odds on the aussies go from 2.48 to 2.8 in 2 days? I checked the weather forecast, unchanged, so no rain there, how did they drift like that! Anyway, decided it was time to accept it, so that was a £4 loss.

Made a couple of good moves at the end of the tennis and won most of it back. So I'm a few quid down at the moment.

    Good game!!!

I didn't do too well on the first semi but finished a little up (£1.50 or so) but had more luck in the Murray match after a slow start. Once the odds were hovering around 2.0 each I did loads of £10 trades favouring Roddick and did pretty well out of the last tie break too although i was only trading £2s by then. It was a nice feeling to be in the green for almost the whole game too, usually i mess up at least once! Ended up +18.94 so a nice result

I think the Aussies have struggled a little in the warm up match versus England Lions (b-team) while England have done very well in theirs so I reckon thats why the price has risen.
