Isn't it funny how 5 seconds suddenly seems to last forever as you're trying to get into a bet - "She's about to serve, Ooo, bet's been matched, crikey she's lost the point! gotta get the hedge in, markets moved 7 percent, she's serving again, middle of the rally, hedge is matched, the point is over, markets moving again", It's insane really but good fun, can't see myself winning any prizes but so far I've learnt some new things and I'm having a laugh so roll on next week and the Ashes.
Yes that's a good tip about changing it to quick instead of LTP for the hedge button. I think I tried it on quick for a little while but changed it back because you don't make quite as much using quick... but for live betting it would be ideal definitely - I was there at the end betting on venus and it was a bit nuts because the price was all over the shop, would have been easier to have it on 'quick' for that definitely.

Absolutely no idea why. If you just make sure your effective starting float is £50 (ie withdraw any 'extras' you get) that would be good cheers.

UPDATE: actually the reason some people are getting £50 is because the RAF bonus is £50 until 5th July! Nice one

Hmm, well not so good by the end of my first day. Net result £1.89 loss. I'm still playing on the horses, and problem seems to be (1) I close my wins and let my losses run - I think this must be a bad thing and (2) I make a little profit on a race, then press on and make a bigger loss - I guess this isn't a good thing either...

Oh well, tomorrow is another day......

Good luck to all. Well done everyone who actually made a profit this week!

Cloverleaves, I started on the racing last night and I was doing exactly the same, starting well then a bit of success goes to my head, get carried away thinking that I know what I'm doing and end up with a loss, only tiny stakes at present though, so no great disaster. Current position £1.95 profit.

    Excellent stuff, well done.

I only managed £2.38 on the mens final, although I didn't actually trade after the 1st set (except for a cheeky trade on my main BF account).

On my challenge account; total P&L is +£18.08 so far. I'm finding the horses very slow going, I'm not sure if this is because I'm not used to Sat and Sun evenings, or because I'm more used to Bet Angel now, but I felt very out of touch with it the last couple of days.

Shame we missed out on the confed cup and U21 footie. There are a couple of pre-season tournaments from tomorrow, so may give them a go.

(I posted in wrong thread - whoops).

Been busy this week so couldn't join in from the start.
Sent an e-mail to racing traders support today so as soon as my account is granted the ladder access I'll be trying to catch everyone up.

Bloody hell, I'm a jammy git - another potential disaster has ended up in my favour. I was trading on the under 2.5 goals market before kick off on the Panathinaikos v FC Basel game, just about to lock in a £7ish profit, when the market was suspended. It usually does this for a few seconds when a game goes live but this time it stayed suspended, I don't know why.

Anyway, I spent some time faffing around, waiting for something to happen. Finally I just went over to Paddy Power and dutched with them. The over 2.5 goals market had crept up so I currently have a profit of £30 if it's u2.5, and £0 if it's o2.5. If the game eventually goes in play at betfair I will try to tweak my stake to lock in a profit. Phew.

    Anyone else on this game?

Are you sure it will go in play at betfair? Not all games do.
Have a plan and stick to it

Apparently there were "technical issues" and the market will reopen for the second half. In fact I just checked and it's gone live now. Half time, the score is still 0-0, so I should be able to lock in a fair profit on the u2.5 market.

EDIT: Suspended again. Some of the folks on the betfair forum are going APESHIT! There will be a few big losses in cyberspace tonight.

EDIT: The game finished 2-0 to one of the teams. I had to use £100 of my paddypower balance because betfair wasn't working but I reckon this is still "trading" because I effectively greened up. What do you guys think? I plan to withdraw £100 from my betfair trading account to balance things up again.

Getting the rules right on this contest seems to be much trickier than expected at the beginning. Perhaps we ought to have another contest next month as well, with new, fine-tuned rules!
