    Morning all,

Just thought I'd chip in with my progress (or lack of) to date. Been sticking to the horses mostly and just when I think I've got the hang of it I do something stupid. I think others have mentioned it but I just find it so hard to accept the small losses. Here's my P&L from yesterday and you can see what I mean! Chugging along nicely making a small profit on each race when along comes a massive (comparatively) loss on the one race - wiping out all the good work for the day. Starts off with me not accepting a 30p loss or so. Then, escalates to me not accepting a £1.20 loss, then ends with me trying not to lose my whole £5 stake!! - but only just managing it.

If I could have just got out to only lose 30p or so on that one race then I'd have been £4.00 or so in profit for the day. If I could repeat that for a month I would be quite happy! But, unfortunately, I usually end up with a similar P&L to this one.

Oh well... - will press on to the end of the month!

Crippery it's not to bad, I put £5 laying the draw for the real madrid match on monday thinking they'll score early against the irish and the odds will shoot up giving me a nice profit. Of course it went on and on and by the 85 minute thought better get out before I lose £60 ish. As soon as I cut my loses ( far to late ) Real scored and screwed me all ends up lost about £30.

2 lessons backing first is cheaper and take small loses and get back into the market, rather than letting big ones build up.

Sorry if i shouldn't post in here as I'm not on the challenge.

Well I'm finally over £100, and no major losses yet.

Got the Wembley cup from tomorrow for football traders. Might be taken a bit more seriously (but don't bank on it) than normal pre-season matches.

    Hello all,

I'm struggling a bit to find things I can trade on. I'm awful at horses, to the point that I think a furlong is a particularly hairy horse. The cricket is gone for a couple of weeks and there is no ftie that I can really get stuck in to.

I don't want to rush in to trading for the sake of it on something I have no clue about, but I also want to actually try some more trading!

Oh well, I guess worst case is I leave my account as is and then use it again once the footie season starts again.

P.S If you haven't posted a score for a while, put one up in the Trading total thread so we can see an updated leaderboard!

My total is now at £100.79. I'm not sure what there is to trade on really, could do with some more cricket, quite enjoying that... not sure that starts before August now though...

Hmm, for the second time (happened a couple of days ago as well) bettrader has placed random bets and not placed bets when i want it to. The only way i've been able to sort it out is by pressing the hedge button and taking a loss. Anyone else had this problem/know a solution?
