    Hi guys,

Please use this thread for general chat about the challenge.

    CHALLENGE UPDATE SUNDAY 28/06/09
Only 3 days to go until the start of the challenge!

Thanks a lot for everyone that's registered and emailed their details so far - in all there are now 20 people who have emailed their details in. Please bear with me as I confirm these registrations, you should be OK to go for 1st July, it looks like it's taking around 48hrs for new registrations to appear on the affiliate system at the moment.

The system of depositing £50.xx is working brilliantly! Should really touch wood right now because it's going a little bit too smoothly really! Even so if everyone can please complete their Betfair forum chat name registration that will confirm 100% who is who for all avoidance of doubt pretty much.

In total there are now 8 users who are confirmed - look in your user profile and you should see the little icon next to it if you're confirmed - I'll also try to update the first post here which might be just as easy to check to see if you're confirmed:

    http://www.thegamblingtimes.com/boar...challenge.html

If you've yet to register there's plenty of time - you don't necessarily have to have registered before July 1st - since the challenge is running all the way through July you can start at any time up until the end of July but of course you'll have more chance of generating a larger profit if you start early.

I will be away through the day tomorrow but should hopefully be back in the evening or at latest on Tuesday, please do keep sending in the registrations if you haven't already!

CHALLENGE UPDATE 01/07/09 (also emailed to everyone taking part)
Well, the Challenge got off to a good start today! There were a good number of people (around 30) up and running with their accounts verified and BetTrader subscription added. If anyone has been confirmed (ie has the trading icon next to their forum name) but they haven't yet got ladder access, please contact me and I'll help get it sorted.

Currently there is only one person who has emailed me their details for the challenge but is yet to be verified - although they only joined yesterday so I expect it to be confirmed tomorrow - hang in there mate.

Also I added a couple more people to the list - Gibber and hebangsthedrums. If you can guys can follow the instructions in the challenge thread I'll get you confirmed asap so you can get cracking with the challenge.

As for results - I'm sure everyone is itching to talk about their results! If everyone can please use this thread to post their results and I'll keep the 'leaderboard' updated in the first few posts.

Hope there aren't too many of you who've 'gone out' just yet - if / when you do go out if you can let me know so I can update my notes that would be appreciated. Personally I'm 'going small' for a while after having a close call betting with £50 stakes in running on the tennis! Damn you breakpoints giving me a heart attack...

I think I'm all set up so just waiting for confirmation from munk. I installed bet trader pro for the first time too, having never used trading software before. I almost had an epileptic fit with stuff flashing all over the markets

lol..the grid view is a bit like that!

I got it installed with my normal betfair account and played with some £2 bets. Even with just £2 it's a bit scary to use - especially when playing with a betfair account with hundreds and hundreds of pounds! I think i'll be happier using it with just £50!

The GUI on my BetTrader seems to be a bit wonky, I'll try to get a screengrab pic up if I can, I 've emailed support and hopefully they'll have an idea, maybe something to do with .NET or Java or whatever it is that it's based on I reckon, hope I can get it sorted before the off. Been trying to read up a bit on trading and watched a few of the "before the off price movements on betfair which reminded me just how much the price moves which is great and scary at the same time. Must keep repeating in my head the golden rule "Cut losses, cut losses, cut losses."

edit. Here's the screengrab for the wonky gui, when I click a selection to back or lay I see this:

I've been having a tiny bit of fun backing and laying the same tennis player on my new Betfair account to try to either get rid of my initial 33p extra deposit (£10.33 for ID), or else win a bit if I don't lose.

I just juggle the lay bet so the loss on losing is exactly the amount I want to get rid of. That way if I keep on winning, I have a few more pennies to take out of the account to get it to the right amount, and if I lose, I will have exactly £10.00 in the account for the start of the challenge. Win, win!

[On a separate note, none of the "smiileys" have been available since yesterday. Have I done something to my account, or are they missing for everyone? And if so are they coming back? I miss them!]

Trading = Sounds good, I have been trading most of the tennis matches that have been on TV for fun and have been all green on all of them at some point. Must learn to stop there.

RE The Smiles, they appear for me?

I dont now what you have done but I will look into it.

P.S. This is Munks gig and I definitely dont want to step on his toes and/or give conflicting information, but im pretty sure everyone has to start with £50 for the challenge. Check with him about that if you havnt already.
Have a plan and stick to it

Eddie - I suspect the strange layout in the GUI is due to you having changed the size of the window settings (via Properties -> Appearance tab on desktop). Looks like you've set the active title bar a little larger than normal, so maybe that is causing it.

Try setting to the default Windows settings and see if that sorts it.
