Scoop6
Do any of you ever try the scoop6? Apart from when you don't even get placed in the first it makes the Saturday racing much more fun. I'd have been doing it sooner if I had realised there is a placepot portion to the bet as well as the jackpot (and bonus as unlikely as that is). It's so much better than trying your hand at the lottery and not so much more expensive! I sound like a marketeer for tote now
Only thing is, since mug punting my MB winnings every Saturday isn't part of the master plan, I only put on 1 line (2 at most) and always fail to get anywhere near! I'm not sure when nor where the races are announced (Friday sometime I expect?) but I thought it might be useful to me (and others) to have a bit of a discussion of them to sort out my thinking before making the bet?
Although I have been to lots of race meets I hardly ever bother looking in detail at the form beforehand. so although it might not be overly useful due to the bad races they usually pick, it might put me on the right track thinking-wise next time I'm off to Warwick?

I dont really know what it is, is it like a big accumulator on the Horses, pick all 6 and win the Jackpot?
Have a plan and stick to it
-
Basically, yes.
They announce 6 races that make up the scoop6 card. Each line costs £2 and the money goes into a win pot, place pot and bonus fund at a ration of 7:4:3.
If you win all 6 you win a share of the win pot and get entered in the bonus pot for the following week.
The bonus is one race where if you pick the winner you get the lot.
If you place in all 6 you win a share of the place pot (usually around £500 I think).
There are a lot of rollovers in this and of course once it gets huge the syndicates come out to play. But I quite like it for all of £2. And if you manage to get the first few right you can always start laying your other selections for a decent profit can't you?

Here's who I've gone for this week. Just the one line this week = the horses in bold. i'm probably going to regret not doubling up Leg1 or Leg 3 to the second selections though...
Leg1 - 14:15 Kempton
Ring Bo Ree
OR Bally Conn
Or maybe Over the Flow or Thursday's Knight!
Leg2 - 14:25 Lingfield
Fantasy Ride
OR Insignia
OR maybe Mid Valley or Inquisitress
Leg3 - 15:00 Lingfield
Prince Charlemagne
OR Goblin
OR maybe Limelight or Prince of Medina
Leg4 - 15:35 Lingfield
Baylini
OR Lady Jane Digby
OR Ace of Hearts or John Terry
Leg5 - 15:55 Wolverhampton
Harry Up
Wotashirtful
OR Doubtful Sound or Pawan
Leg6 - 16:00 Kempton
Pretty Star
OR Double Dizzy
OR Pass Me A Dime
-
Leg1: (lose)
As predicted, I'm regret not doubling up Leg 1 as I picked the wrong one, it might be time to give up on Ring Bo Ree. With him 4th I would have still qualified for place pot if there weren't so many non runners! Oh well, there's always next week, lets just hope I don't win the rest!
Leg2: (place)
Well at least I'm not regretting a chance at the jackpot but only by a head. The winner, Shenandoah Girl, wasn't even on my radar.
Leg3: (win)
Prince Charlemagne won it easily enough.
Leg4: (place)
Another that I hadn't picked out, Formation. Baylini placed though.
Leg5: (lose)
A nightmare leg. My pick came last, second pick a non-runner and my other picks all unplaced! Still this is where my regret over leg 1 ends!
Leg6: (place)
Strawberry led the whole way round and although Pretty Star was reeling him in at the end it was just too late. Another place for what its worth (nothing).
As a consolation, nobody else managed to win them all either so the win fund rolls over to next week (£260k I think). I hope the 9 people/syndicates who picked the first 5 winners had a hefty lay on their horse in the last!
The bonus wasn't won either. That rested on Lady Jane Digby on leg 4, who was only 5th. Which means the bonus is rolled over and stands at about £2.6 million

Lets try again. I won't be able to watch or listen to these unfortunately so it'll just left to ride.
Ascot 1.40 - Belcantista
Daves Dream is well backed but probably a step too far
Haydock 1.55 - Character Building
Running with cheek pieces and McCoy booked to ride, say no more
Uttoxeter 2.20 - Naughty By Nature
Won 2 of last 3, 3lb rise countered by jockeys 7lb claim...
Uttoxeter 2.50 - Coach Lane
Race looks to have a few front runners who will fight it out letting
Coach Lane sit back and take it at the post. Only problem that first
choice is Ascot run. Kingham second choice but since you can't choose
a backup it'll go to SP favorite. I hope that's Kingham...
Haydock 3.25 - Inchidaly Rock
Well Handicapped, and you've got to pick one of them! If I'm still
winning by here I'll definitely be laying this race!! If I'm near my
computer. Which I won't be
Wincanton - 3.40 - SP favorite
I haven't a clue. Probably Tarateeno who will be favourite. But if the
market says otherwise I'll bow to them on this one!

Well possibly the worst scoop6 I've ever managed
Ascot 1.40 - Belcantista (lost)
Went second 3 out, but couldn't stay the distance this time
Haydock 1.55 - Character Building (lost)
Apparently made a blunder 5 out and weakened badly after that
Uttoxeter 2.20 - Naughty By Nature (lost)
Not running well and pulled up.
Uttoxeter 2.50 - Coach Lane (place)
Coach Lane non-runner and Kingham was fovorite as predicted. Only second
Haydock 3.25 - Inchidaly Rock (lost)
Blundered 2 out - see a theme here?
Wincanton - 3.40 - SP favorite (win)
Market said Tarateeno and they were right.
One person did get all 6 and will have a chance at the 2.7 million bonus next week. He already pocketed 670k for picking these 6.

Hoping for at least more than last week; it can't get much worse can it? Hopefully I'll get a chance to place this tomorrow, its another busy day for the family...
Leg 1, Kempton - 1.30pm
Dansimar
A tough opener this one. I'm going with Miss Williams as much as the horse. Thundering Star and Honest John look likely to go close too.
Leg 2, Newcastle - 2.20pm
Prosecco
The others seem to have harsh penalties.
Leg 3, Chepstow - 2.45pm
Bally Conn
In form and likely to be close again.
Leg 4, Kempton - 3.10pm*
Fleet Street
They're really not making it easy today. Any one of these could be winners. I quite like Oedipe too, but not this time.
EDIT: Its looking like Big Fella Thanks is shaping up to be a bigger favourite than I expected so I've added him to the selections.
Leg 5, Newcastle - 3.30pm
Jass
Possibly carrying too much weight but on the up and might just get there again.
Leg 6, Kempton - 3.45pm
Helium
Can hopefully put one over Hebredian.
-
I shouldn't do this without paying enough attention, but frankly its still more fun and more likely than the lottery.
Leg 1, Kempton - 1.30pm
Dansimar - placed
Beaten by 1/2 length by Eleazar, a 22/1 horse that I didn't consider
Leg 2, Newcastle - 2.20pm
Prosecco - lost
Weakened from 4 out, very disappointing
Leg 3, Chepstow - 2.45pm
Bally Conn - lost
"In form and likely to be close again." - How wrong can you be!
Leg 4, Kempton - 3.10pm*
Fleet Street - lost
Big Fella Thanks - placed
Assuming I'd still been in it by here I'd have been glad of the change of heart.
If I'd have had more time I'd have read one of my tipsters notes and chosen the winner!
Leg 5, Newcastle - 3.30pm
Jass - lost
Pulled up. I didn't see the races to know how he was running
Leg 6, Kempton - 3.45pm
Helium - lost
"Can hopefully put one over Hebredian." - Guess who won it! Pick was only third.
