Hatton vs Pacquiao - Hatton KO clip

Yeah that was an incredible knockout in the second round, I honestly can't remember seeing a better knockout punch than that! Pacman is lightning fast, so fast I actually missed the punch and thought Hatton had slipped and just decided to take a rest on his back for ... well 2 or 3 minutes

I thought he might not make it through the first round though, was only the bell that saved him from losing in round one for sure, he was all over the shop after getting knocked down in round 1.

Round 2 he seemed to be getting back into things, but his brawling style of boxing just got the better of him as Pacquiao timed his KO blow perfectly (his coach said they'd been working on exploiting the weakness that Hatton has with his style of 'all in' fighting).

Actually worth staying up to watch (3am my arse, had to watch the two warm up bouts first so didn't start until at least 4-5am!)... will try and find a clip of the knockout punch now because that was truly awesome...

Worth watching from start because it shows you how he was knocked down in the first round a few times already... then after that:

KO is at 3:46, 5:17 has incredible slowmo replay, first shots of Hatton off the canvas are around 6-7mins (at least 3 mins after getting KO'd). Hope he's alright, not heard anything about it on news as yet.

f^ck me! I'd not seen the fight clips yet. He was dead to the world long before he hit the deck. As an ex boxer (well, kickboxer!) I'm just in awe of that fella, that was an incredible punch. I remember receiving that same punch in semi contact sparring and it hurt like hell. Full contact? No thanks!

Hatton was completely outclassed last night, he shouldn't have been in there. I hope Las Vegas paid him very well for his troubles; that was surely curtains for him?

    Yep, collosal punch!

For a punch to look that good on video it must have been incredible - video footage makes punches etc look far less powerful than they really are. I remember watching a karate bout from my club that someone had recorded on a camcorder & there was one sequence where one guy appears to flick a couple of roundhouse kicks at the other guy. On tape they looked like nothing at all, it wasn't even obvious if they'd actually landed. However I was about 5 feet away from the fight (sitting at the edge of the mat) when it happened & each kick was actually breaking the ribs of the guy receiving it....

(a semi-comical footnote to that story - at the end of the bout the guy who'd won (not realising he'd just broken about 4 of the other guys ribs) ran over & gave him a bear hug....)

Anyway, point being that PacMan's punch must have been awesome. Ricky did well to get up anytime soon after that.

Aye that was a bit of a mismatch I think - I know Hatton was talking about fighting Pacquiao just after he (Pac) had defeated Oscar de la Hoya, and I'd see Hatton's previous fight against... forget who it was now but he didn't look that convincing AND Pac was just awesome again against DLH (if it's any consolation to Hatton, delahoya's defeat to pac was just as embarrassing if not more so, although he did go a bit further than just 2 rounds). This time around though I just thought unless Hatton has really changed his style he's got zero chance against Pac ... wish I'd had a flutter now

Upcoming next (hopefully!) is Mayweather Jr vs Pacman which will be a very interesting fight, they're both quite similar in speed/agility and arguably it was the speed of both of those that allowed them each to defeat Hatton (Mayweather beat Hatton sometime last year I think it was? yep back in december 2008). Never been a massive boxing fan but do enjoy watching it when there's a bit bout on... Looking forward to Pacman/Merryweather Jr.

I thought Mayweather Jr would be too big to fight Pacquiao? I'm a bit of a novice with boxing tbh, but i thought hatton had to move up to fight Mayweather, and pacquaio had to move up to fight Hatton?

You probably know more than me to be honest... I just know that Hatton fought (and lost to) both Pacquiao and Mayweather... maybe Hatton was just in the middle of the two weight ranges then? Pacman best start munching up those powersnacks / ghosts then to put some weight on!!! Would be a great fight I think.
