I've laid off some of my bet now, so its either £50 profit if Sri Lanka dont win, or £500+ if they do. I'm away from fri afternoon for the weekend so i'll be letting the rest ride til the end!
I really really really cant see them losing to the West Indies, but I'd be gutted to walk away with nothing at this point, and anything can happen, especially with rain possible!
West Indies can turn it on when the feel like it, but I think they are the perfect match-up for Sri Lanka. Most of there bowlers are just dobbers, and althought they have alot of talent witht the bat, I dont think the likes of Gayle or Bravo will be able to win it on there own against the class bowlers they will face!
I'd be lumping it big on Sri Lanka @ 1.66 but i dont want to jinx myself!
My sri lanka bet was a £50 free bet, so I've layed it so far to make £40 if it loses or £100 if it wins... not a lot of wiggle room to be honest but if it they make it to the final I'll probably lay it all I think.... or will I?! Quite excited about the match today now, will try and watch that it should be good... on at 5.30pm tonight.
I'm really looking forward to the final later and have a cheeky lil bet on the Sri Lankans. I think 1.73 is pretty generous personally considering how dominant they've been. The Pakistanis blow a bit hot and cold and even on a hot day I think the Sri lankans have too much. Like several others, I wish i'd followed my urge to back them a bit while they were at 7.0 or so during the super 8's but hindsight is utterly useless in this business I guess!
I go very lucky with my bets here in the end! I was away for the weekend, and as I was driving down on friday night I realised I hadnt put my lay on Sri Lanka and the game was in play vs WI. Luckily at this point the West Indies were in trouble but still it was a nerve racking hour til they eventually won!
I put a bet of £350 on Pakistan in the final @ 2.2, so would still ideally have liked Sri Lanka to have won for a few hundred extra profit, but i'll settle for what I made because it was more than I would have got had I not forgot to lay before the semis!
Afridi finished a few wickets short of the leaders so no joy there, and there was never really any value in laying it off (crappy market at betfair!) so i took a loss on that one.
Overall it was very successful tournament for me betting wise, its just a pity I was playing for such small stakes for most of it haha
