I've often thought that a running theme in golf majors is that there always seems to be a Japanese player either leading or almost leading at the end of day one (& they never win). Originally it used to often be Isao Aoki & then Tommy Nakajima.
Into 5.9 without playing a shot, presumably based on some of the leaders imploding.
Edit: now 5.6! Not much logic in this move IMO, the conditions are unlikely to be any better when Woods plays. Not that I'm complaining having had a bit of 7.0 this morning
Edit: now 5.3 at 10.27am.
Woods rarely implodes though and this weather is causing many to do just that. Look at Ben Curtis +8 today through 11, Mike Weir +9 through 11 (STUPID Canadian!), Jimenez with 3 bogeys in a row on 2,3,4... as much as Woods is an UBER talent, he is also an UBER grinder and he WILL grind out a decent score today. So all the weather does is bring the field back to him.
I'm soooooo glad I layed off my £2 bet on Weir for a small profit, he has totally imploded today. Took a TRIPLE bogey on the easiest hole on the course.
Incidentally am I the only one here who truly loathes Peter Aliss. Mind-numbingly boring & just WON'T STOP TALKING whenever he's in the commentary box. He literally just lets whatever stupid thoughts are in his brain dribble continually out of his mouth & almost every word of it is useless giberish we don't need to here. Long LONG overdue for the boot.
I'm the same, he doesnt half do my head in when he goes on about Bob from the golf course in Kent and how his wife makes lovely cakes etc.
Althought i like most of the other commentators, the whole BBC coverage annoys me in the way they rarely show any shots of a lot of the leading players unless they are well known to the average bloke in the street, or European. Sky used to be different but they are becoming the same. It means you rarrly get the chance to see how a lot of players are playing!

Agreed. They haven't shown the leader yet! But I've seen every single shot on every single hole that Jimenez has played. Jimenez is +5 for the day ffs & playing terrible. He may have led yesterday but now all he is is a middle-aged man with terrible hair. And yet they continue to show every shot of his.
Ross Fisher's wife is due to give birth & he has a plane on standby to leave the second she goes into labour. If you can get a decent match with one of the bigger bookies (esp someone like PaddyPower, VCBet) then do so. IMO if he leaves because of the missus those bookies are highly likely to refund stakes as a goodwill gesture
I went for £20 on Graeme McDowell at 85 with a £30 cover on Tiger at 3.7 before the match started. Tiger as we all know didn't do great on day 1 but is looking steady today. McDowell finished day 1 at -2 and odds were down to 40 but has just double bogeyed and back to 75!
