You write in your first post that Stoke should win, maybe 2-0.
So you bet on Stoke to win (?) at 1.75
Nah, he never said Stoke should win and he didn't bet on stoke to win, hey layed stoke, which means he is essentially betting on them to NOT win.
"i laid stoke @ 1.75 (lay to lose £50) which was giving me £66.66 profit should stoke fail to win."
How can you get £66.66 profit if Stoke fail to win ?
He's layed them, so his bet wins if Stoke loses or draws (= fails to win). He says in his post that he 'laid stoke @1.75 (lay to lose £50)', if you check on betmate/betdaq you can lay like normal or you can click the 'lay to lose' button. This means you will lay whatever it takes to lose £50, should you have to pay out (Stoke winning in this case). So if you layed to lose £50 at 1.75 then he would be laying £50/0.75 = £66.66.
So he has layed Stoke for £66.66 at 1.75
If you bet that Stoke will not win at odds 1.75, then the profit should be more
like 1.75 * 50 - 50 = 37.5 £ ?
Actually he has layed the Stoke win for £66.66 at 1.75, I hope you can see that now
sorry if i confused anyone and i appologise for messing up someone elses betting thread
i laid stoke as i couldnt see them winning, i backed them at 20/1 when they were 2-0 down but it wasnt some kind of great football tipping (i never actually though stoke would come back and win) i was just covering myself incase they did, all i was doing was "trading out" at a normal bookmaker as the match wasnt inplay on at betdaq
