I wasn't going to do a thread about it, as if everybody did a diary/thread with all their bets the whole place would be cluttered up. but I'm sure there'll be plenty about it in the chatbox.

Will keep an eye on the odds at Pinnies/SBO as they may well turn out to be arbtastic, and I may end up dutching most of my bets there rather than laying off. Who knows what's around the corner? I've a feeling it's going to be good fun though.

Just as a final question/aside - has anybody ever heard of anyone being limited at either of those 2 books? Or is that a silly question?

I have NEVER heard of Pinnies limiting anyone. Can't speak for SBO.

Ok, so great start to the season. I have reached my limit at moneybookers so was not able to deposit anything via them. Have fired an e-mail off to cs to ask them if they will increase my limits and/or send me a bank transaction that actually shows a code this time.

So, resorting to depositing by cards. Opened my Pinnies account, said I have a deposit limit of 3k in any 30 day period, ok I can live with that. Tried to deposit, got a pop up saying max deposit was £600, ok not quite as happy now buthey I'll pop £600 in there, deposit declined.

Oh well, SBO methinks. Account registration declined until a convo with cs. Registered successfully on 2nd attempt. Went to whack my deposit in, declined. cs no help, said I should talk to my bank, reccommended I use moneybookers!! ha ha.

So off to open my new bf account. Registered fine, which was a nice relief. Altho another deposit declined, on a different card!!!!

Will try again tomorrow and see how I get on.

iv done it a few times but seem to struggle with red mist and overstaking...

even tho you dont get the best odds at bf always, i find it safer to have 1 designated gambling account and keep it seperate in my mind from arbing funds

every few months i get the itch and find this is a safe wayt of controlling it.

other thing iv tried with some successs is not laying off any iw arbs

upto 30 quid unlaid if they allow 70 then lay 41 rest rides
swing was a bit much for me tho some weeks +300 others down 200 smaller stakes possibly... gone back to underlaying so jusft cover stake atm... wish i was letting them ride would be massively up this month

also tried football elite last year which was good...

on the whole tho probably better off avoiding gambling... slippery slope and even when i win a bit i could of made more raping the bookies instead of watching what i was betting on

If you are opening up a new Betfair account just for the ease of keeping track of the "gambling" account and mentally keeping it separate from other funds then I'd suggest the first step is opening up a new bank account and using it solely for this purpose. It should make keeping track quite easy. Choosing to only use Betfair to back is the lazy option and will make it so much more difficult (actually I'd say nearly impossible) to win in the long run. Betfair is so rarely the best price, especially for the fave in a football match. If Arsenal is 1.2 on Betfair (actual odd 1.19 after commission) you will nearly always find 1.2 at the bookies. Why give up that 5% to Betfair? I think Pinnacle is a good one to have, but really have as many options as you can.

Come to think of it, if I had to choose one place to put £500 into to mug punt 1x2 football I would choose Smarkets as they look to be top on price on nearly everything at the moment given the 1% commission.
