Trying to get a correct tricast (1-2-3 in that order) in the Grand National is an exercise in futility. Most of us will live our whole lives without ever doing it.
Nevertheless, nothing ventured....
For anyone who wants to take part for fun, I suggest select 5 horses & do a 5p perm (60 bets, costs £3). So nothing much to lose, which is just as well because lose is what's most likely to happen.
A typical Grand Nationalo tricast can pay thousands so even to a 5p stake if you did get the first 3 you could be looking at a payout of £100+
But far more valuable than that, you would forever be able to brag that you got the TRICAST up in the National. Not a boast that many can make.....
For those who subscribe to such theories, you could regard the £3 as well-spent coverplay money too....
Anyway, my 5 against the field:
Big Fella Thanks - I can hardy leave out this one. Best National jockey on board (Ruby) & ran a huge race last year as a 6-Y-0. Trainer must surely win the National soon & this one ran a great prep. Can't leave him out.
Comply Or Die - 1st & 2nd in his two Grand National attempts & no reason he shouldn't run another huge race. A must for my perm.
State Of Play - 4th last year, goes well fresh, I keep coming back to this one.
Character Building - Ridden by the brilliant Nina Carberry. No woman has finished in the frame ever. Nina is the girl who could change all that. CB is a quirky type & sometimes they take to Aintree & storm it.
Arbor Supreme - Laid out for this & finally has the good ground he needs. One of those with a real chance if things go his way.
