Best sport for value?
Hi all. I've been wondering recently which sport is best for finding value bets and I suppose the obvious answer is the sport you know the most about. But if we took a complete gambling novice, who isnt particularly interested in sport, (my wife maybe lol) and taught them the concept of the value bet, what sport do you think they would find the most proffitable/least unproffitable.
To me horse racing seem's the most likely. Obviously it's a pretty complex sport, but once you have learned the basics your able to place small bets at odds of around 10/1 pretty regularly. So it would take a while to lose a bankroll of say £100, and in the meantime you'd be learning. Also, it seems to me that horses is where the most famous pro's make their living so there must be a decent edge there for the dedicated.
Just wondering what you all think is the sport where the best value is, and if you think it's likely that somebody could make a decent proffit without concentrating solely on one sport.
Cheers.

I`ve been thinking about this and have concluded that it`s just about impossible to spot value unless you have some knowledge of the sport you are betting on.
That said...ther are a couple of sports where the underdog in a two person/team sport often win and sometimes at huge odds. Also in both these sports teams/persons seem to come back fairly reguarly from what seems a very difficult task.
The sports i`m talking about are tennis and cricket. I`m mainly referring to 20/20 when it comes to cricket but it does happen in all forms.....laying at low odds often reaps rewards in 20/20. Tennis wise, i`d say particuarly in WTA there are lots of upsets and also many swings in the market as outside of the top 5/6, the women seem to struggle to hold their serve quite a lot.
Hope this helps

I'm thinking of trying to value bet the premiership this season to see how i get on.
I'll probably just check the fixtures each week and then assign a probabability to each result in the 1x2 market. If i think any price is wrong i'll have a small wager, mainly as an experiment.
I may also lay any team i think is overvalued but to be honest i prefer to value bet than value lay (if there's such a term)
I dont actually know that much about football though, but as any bets will only be small i think it'll interesting to see how i get on.

value hard to find in football... unless you find something massive out first...quicker than the bookie. for example i loaded up with £100@4/1 on cardiff to get promoted the other day when i heard they got bellamy... bookie didnt reallise... now into around 5/2 also got on them outright at 14s in to 10s now
hard to find value iin single football matches imho...
and often trying will make you a mug
ie rooneys fit united cant lose
need some kind of system and reasoning like football elite
also need a lot of knowledge in a given sport to give you an edge
personally i bet rugby the most atm... english prem, heinekken and internationals
cant trust the magners
used to like betting tennis
but havent watched much of late so cant make much of a valid argument based on current info as im still thinking about a year or 2 back
altho i was on soderling at 120s to win the french... he looked incredible value..,
perhaps not seeing hios current form and going on only man to ever beat rafa in paris worked in my favour
