Hey folks, unfortunately I'm a week late for the start of the Prem season but here goes:
A couple of years ago, a guy on here ran a football prediction league. Sadly, from what I recall, it ended up going a bit pear-shaped when money got involved but I really enjoyed the game itself and wondered if there was any interest in resurrecting it?
Having emerged from feverish negotiations with the TGT top brass, they have very kindly agreed to provide monthly prizes as well as freebets for the seasons best performers.
Concept is as follows (copy pasted from an ancient post):
"The way the comp will work is simple, 3 times a week (weds/sat/sun) there will be a football fixture put up and 4 different markets and you have to predict the outcome of each market...
the 4 markets are......
1X2: (home win, draw or away win)
HT/FT: (outcome at ht and outcome at ft)
overs/unders: (over 2.5 goals or under 2.5 goals)
correct score: (the correct score at ft)
5pts are awarded for correct 1X2
10pts are awarded for correct HT/FT
5pts are awarded for correct overs/unders
15pts are awarded for correct correct score
15 bonus points are included for anyone who gets all 4 correct"
-The top scorer each month will win a £25 freebet to use at Smarkets with the seasonal top 3 sharing £100 of freebets (also for use at Smarkets) in the following format:
1st £60
2nd £30
3rd £10
- The top scorer each month receives an AMAZING green clover symbol thingy that money just can't buy.
-The first "month" will run from this Saturday (20th August) through to the end of September and prizes will be monthly from then onwards.
- In the event of a tie in either the monthly or seasonal league, the winner will be determined by a contest of my choice.
I'm happy to put the games up each week and attempt to keep some kind of league table up and running (though being utterly unreliable in general, I reserve the right to mess up occasionally). All tactics are welcomed, play as dirty as you like!
Anyway, I hope that makes sense. Any questions, abuse or what-not are welcome!
As long as you post selections before kick off the relevant matches, you can enter as little/often as you like.
