Premier League Preview

  • Liverpool and Man United in action on Sunday
  • Boro, Hull and Swansea all looking for wins on Saturday
  • Exclusive predictions from Barry Silkman and Graeme Bailey
  • Exclusive insight from Ladbrokes
  • Exclusive Football INDEX one to follow

With it being FA Cup semi-final weekend, it is a slimmed down Premier League schedule but there are still some huge games on the horizon.

Third place Liverpool could close the gap to Tottenham – who are not in league action due to their cup commitments – to just two points with victory at Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Manchester United in fifth are also playing on Sunday as they face the short-trip across Lancashire to face Burnley.

With United and Arsenal – who are again engaged in the cup – Everton have the chance to moved back into fifth on Saturday as they face West Ham United.

The other three games could all have major ramifications in the relegation battle.

Second from bottom Middlesbrough will feel they have to register a win at Bournemouth to have any hope of staying up.

Swansea are looking to move back out of the relegation places as they host Stoke City – but that will only happen if Hull City do not beat Watford at The KCOM.

See below for a run-down on every game, including predictions from world renowned football agent and GamblingTimes.com columnist Barry Silkman and our own Football Insider Graeme Bailey, together with everything you need to know from the bookies – this week with Ladbrokes’s Richard Marsh.

Saturday 22 April 2017 Bournemouth 15:00 Middlesbrough

TEAM NEWS: Jack Wilshere is unlikely to play again this season due to a broken leg. Victor Valdes remains a doubt for the away side after missing out last week with a rib injury, Grant Leadbitter is set to miss out but Fabio will be fit.
KEY FACT: Boro scored twice in their last Premier League away match, more than in their previous eight on the road combined
MATCH ODDS: Bournemouth 5/6 Draw 5/2 Boro 10/3
SILKY SAYS: I just can’t see Boro winning again this season really, so easy home win – 2-0
TGT INSIDER SAYS: Again I think Boro could get something from this so just a narrow away win – 1-2
BOOKIE RECOMMENDATION:
Bournemouth to win 5/6
FOOTBALLIndex – One to follow: Ben Gibson is a recent addition to the Football INDEX after winning promotion last week and at £0.67 still looks something of a bargain buy.

 Hull 15:00 Watford

TEAM NEWS: Hull should welcome back Omar Elabdellaoui from injury, but David Meyler is out for the rest of the season. Craig Cathcart remains a doubt for Watford with a knee problem.
KEY FACT: Watford won their last league visit to Hull City thanks a Troy Deeney winner in April 2013.
MATCH ODDS: Man Utd 2/9 Draw 11/2 Anderlecht 14/1
SILKY SAYS: Could be a high scoring game this one and I think Watford might just get something – 2-2
TGT INSIDER SAYS: I think Hull will win this and it will be a comfortable success on the day – 2-0
BOOKIE RECOMMENDATION:
Hull to win and BTTS 11/4
FOOTBALLIndex – One to follow: The Watford captain Troy Deeney at £0.49 is not expensive, probably won’t make you too much but you shouldn’t lose off him either.

Swansea 15:00 Stoke

TEAM NEWS: Jack Butland could return in goal after more than a year on the sidelines. Joe Allen should be fit to feature against his former club but Ibrahim Afellay and Stephen Ireland are out. Nathan Dyer and Angel Rangel are sidelined for Swansea and Jack Cork is unlikely to feature due to an ankle injury.
KEY FACT: Stoke City have lost only one of their last seven Premier League matches against Swansea
MATCH ODDS: Swansea 23/20 Draw 11/5 Stoke 12/5
SILKY SAYS: Another tough game this one, but I think that Stoke could sneak a win here – 1-2
TGT INSIDER SAYS: I think Swansea will get something from this game, but whether it is the win they need I am not so sure.
BOOKIE RECOMMENDATION:
Swansea to win 23/20
FOOTBALLIndex – One to follow: Gylfi Sigurdsson is such a wonderful footballer and still less than £1 at £0.99 – get on this boy.

West Ham 15:00 Everton

TEAM NEWS: Sam Byram and Mark Noble are both suspended for West Ham, Winston Reid may be fit enough for the bench. Seamus Coleman is out for the rest of the season with his broken leg, but Mo Besic is nearing a return and Idrissa Gueye should be fit to start.
KEY FACT: West Ham United have won only one of their last 17 Premier League matches against Everton
MATCH ODDS: West Ham 11/5 Draw 5/2 Everton 23/20
SILKY SAYS: I can’t see West Ham winning this one, but not sure Everton will have enough for the win either, close one – 1-1
TGT INSIDER SAYS: I don’t see West Ham playing well enough to take anything from Everton here – 1-3
BOOKIE RECOMMENDATION:
Over 3.5 goals 13/8
FOOTBALLIndex – One to follow: Andy Carroll at £0.78 look to represent some good value for money here and he should start the game.

Sunday 23 April 2017 Burnley 14:15 Man Utd

TEAM NEWS: Juan Mata, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling remain sidelined for United. Johann Berg Gudmundsson could both be involved for Burnley following injury, but Scott Arfield and Sam Vokes are doubts.
KEY FACT: Marcus Rashford is looking to score in three consecutive Premier League matches for the first time.
MATCH ODDS: Burnley 5/1 Draw 14/5 Man Utd 4/7
SILKY SAYS: I think United will not be too troubled in this one and come away with a straightforward win – 0-2
TGT INSIDER SAYS: Hard one to call but I could see Burnley getting something out of this, so draw for me – 1-1
BOOKIE RECOMMENDATION:
Draw 14/5
FOOTBALLIndex – One to follow: Ander Herrera is a player on the up on the INDEX currently sitting at £0.91 – could still be some value left in him here.

Liverpool 16:30 Crystal Palace

TEAM NEWS: Loic Remy and James Tomkins are struggling to make the trip for Palace. Adam Lallana is not fit yet, whilst Jordan Henderson may not play again this season.
KEY FACT: Crystal Palace are looking to become the first team since Chelsea in October 2005 to win three Premier League visits to Anfield in a row.
MATCH ODDS: Liverpool 10/21 Draw 10/3 Palace 11/2
SILKY SAYS: I think Liverpool will have too much for Palace in this one, despite Big Sam doing well of late – 3-1
TGT INSIDER SAYS: I think Palace will push Liverpool hard but the home side should grab the win – 2-1
BOOKIE RECOMMENDATION:
Both teams to score 4/5
FOOTBALLIndex – One to follow: Could Christian Benteke return to haunt his former club? Very much so and at £0.72 – surely worth collecting a few futures of him this weekend.
