Super League Super 8s Preview – Round 6

The battle for the final two places in the Grand Final play-offs is heating up with just three rounds left.

Castleford Tigers have already secured top spot and Leeds are confirmed in second following their win over Hull FC last week, but the last two places are up for grabs.

Hull remain in third, just a point ahead of Wakefield and two ahead of Wigan in fifth. And fresh from their Challenge Cup win over The Warriors, the two face off again – this time at the KCOM Stadium – as their battle to make it to the Grand Final continues. Victory for Wigan would take them above Hull.

Wakefield have the chance to move into third as they entertain sixth-placed St Helens – who can still make the play-offs but are approaching must win territory.

Salford in seventh can still make it, but that looks an increasingly unlikely prospect although they will be hopeful of beating Huddersfield – who are all but out of the reckoning.

07 September 2017
20:00 Wakefield v St Helens

Match odds: Wakefield 6/4 Draw 22/1 St Helens 4/7
BetFred says: Saints in last chance saloon…they have to win with other results going their way but Wakefield will be in determined mood to fend off nearest rivals Wigan. Very close but Trinity win by four

08 September 2017
20:00 Castleford v Leeds

Match odds: Castleford 1/3 Draw 25/1 Leeds 12/5
BetFred says: Castleford v Leeds will be case of them both trying to avoid injury with Leeds needing just one point to secure second spot, a draw is on the cards

20:00 Hull FC v Wigan

Match odds: Hull 4/5 Draw 20/1 Wigan 11/10
BetFred says: Wigan out to leapfrog Challenge Cup winners Hull – and potentially put them out of the top four – so much to play for in Friday’s TV spectacular. Wigan have the big game experience and will win by six

09 September 2017
13:30 Salford v Huddersfield

Match odds: Salford  Draw 25/1  Huddersfield
BetFred says: Fast-fading Salford host out-of-the-reckoning Giants in a dead rubber and will triumph by ten
