City seal title as 50/1 gamble comes in

Manchester City were crowned Premier League champions on Sunday after rivals Manchester United suffered a shock to bottom-of-the-table West Bromwich Albion.

Only a week before, United had personally denied City the title when they secured a 3-2 win at the Etihad and it looked like Pep Guardiola’s men would have to wait a couple of weeks.

This weekend, City would have to win at Spurs and then United lose to West Brom – a scenario which was a big as 50/1

West Brom just to win were 19/1 and that is what happened as Jay Rodriguez’s goal gave The Baggies victory.

Now Bookmakers are already looking ahead to next season and City are odds-on to seal back-to-back titles.

“Given how easily they won the Premier League title this season, it is no surprise that Manchester City have opened up as the odds-on favourites to do it all over again in the 2018/19 campaign,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“The betting suggests their nearest challengers will be Liverpool who do have the formula for beating Pep Guardiola’s side.”
