John Terry could still be set for Villa return

John Terry could yet make a return to Aston Villa after he rejected a lucrative deal with Russian giants Spartak Moscow.

The 37-year-old had looked set for a shock switch to Moscow, but instead Terry has decided against the move.

In a statement, Terry said: “After considerable thought, I have decided to decline a contract offer from Spartak Moscow.

“I would like to take the opportunity to thank Spartak and wish them and their supporters well for the rest of the season.

“They are an ambitious club and I have been very impressed with their professionalism. But after assessing this move with my family, we’ve decided this is not the right move for ourselves at this time. Good luck Spartak.”

Bookmakers make him just 2/1 for Villa to be his next club.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Only two sides have conceded more than Villa in the Championship this season so it’s no surprise to see John Terry’s odds of a return priced so low.”
