Mourinho and Pogba – what or who is going to give?

Yet another run-in between Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba could very well spell the end…but for who?

Following another poor United display in their 2-2 draw at relegation threatened Southampton, Mourinho is understood to have unleashed on French superstar Pogba – who he has already clashed with on numerous occasions in the past 12-months.

According to reports, dressing sources have confirmed that Mourinho called Pogba a ‘virus’ and if confirmed it looks difficult to see where there relationship can go from here.

“You don’t play. You don’t respect players and supporters. And you kill the mentality of the good honest people around you,” Mourinho is quoted as saying to Pogba in the dressing room.

Now pressure is mounting – with United having made their worse start to a season this century speculation is intense that Mourinho will be axed, indeed he is the new favourite to win the Premier League sack race following Mark Hughes’s departure from Southampton.

But the future of Pogba is just as open to debate, if not more, with Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint Germain all strongly linked with United’s most expensive signing of all time.

It now remains to be seen who will last the longest…Bookmakers are sure it will be, Jose who departs first.

PaddyPower make it odds-on at 1/3 that Mourinho departs before Pogba, who is 9/4.

“Jose Mourinho’s sick (of United) and he’s self-diagnosed himself with the Paul Pogba virus,” spokesman Paddy Power commented.

“In fairness, it must be tough having to deal with a self-indulgent, primadona, showboater who makes everything about him, but enough about Mourinho – Pogba is no shrinking violet, either.

“No doubt the Portuguese believes the remedy will be a functional winger who tracks back, but the Old Trafford board may instead decide for an off-the-shelf cure – P45s for the pair of them.”
