Barcelona confident over De Ligt deal

Barcelona remain confident of landing Dutch defensive sensation Matthijs De Ligt this summer.

Barca were long understood to be leading the chase for the Ajax stopper – but a host of other clubs have been linked with Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain reportedly offering huge money to the teenager.

However, sources close to the situation have told me that they believe that the Catalan giants ‘remain confident’ they will be reuniting De Ligt with his good friend and former Ajax team-mate Frenkie De Jong at the Nou Camp.

De Ligt has declared he is taking a holiday now, following the Nations League, to contemplate his options and where his future will be best served.

“I am going to think about what’s best for me and then I will decide. I think it’s important for a young player to play, that’s the only thing I know.”

Bookmakers have PSG as firm favourites to land De Ligt with BetVictor making them 2/5, ahead of Barcelona at 7/2 and Man United at 6/1.
