Speculation mounts over Poch future

Speculation is mounting over the future of Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino.

And Bookmakers have stopped taking bets on him leaving, with rumours claiming that he could leave after this weekend’s North London derby with Arsenal.

Pochettino’s side lost at home to Newcastle last week and he admitted he was far from happy.

“This type of stuff happens in the Premier League and that’s why you not only need quality players, you need a very good dynamic, and strong team bond and at the moment that situation in our group is still far, far away from what we expect.”

Pochettino has long been linked with Manchester United, as well as most of Europe’s top clubs – having come off the back of Spurs’ best ever season as he guided them to the final of the Champions League.

Pochettino has finished top-three in his last three seasons – but he is yet to win a trophy during his five-year stint and now reports of him leaving have emerged and Bookmakers have stopped taking bets on him leaving.

The Tottenham boss was 20/1 to be the first out of the exit door this season as recently as Thursday, but after a big shift, his odds of exiting have nosedived to 7/2 and Betwy has now taken the decision to suspend betting.

Betway’s Alan Alger said: “I’m not sure many saw it coming but there’s been a massive move in the past 24 hours for Mauricio Pochettino to be the first Premier League manager sacked this season.

“Despite guiding Spurs to the Champions League in all of the last four seasons, they’ve lost 44% of their matches in 2019 which have led to murmurs of player unrest and with the prospect of their bitter north London rivals to come this weekend, the Argentinian’s sack race odds have plummeted.

“We had him as an outsider at 20/1 but that price shortened up throughout the day and then sharply dropped to 7/2. The magnitude of this odds shift put traders are on red alert and we’ve taken the decision to suspend betting.”
