Euros, Olympics and National set to be off

A host of sporting events are being called off because of the Coronavirus and more are set to follow with The Grand National, Euro 2020 and Olympics now looking unlikely to take place.

Most sporting leagues are suspending their current seasons, the Formula One season has been delayed and Uefa are suspending the Champions League.

Uefa are also set to announce that Euro 2020 will become Euro 2021. Bookmakers make it 1/20 that the Euros do not go ahead this year.

The Olympics, which was due to go ahead in Japan in August, is also set to be moved to 2021 with odds now 4/11 that it is postponed.

The world’s most famous sports race the Grand National is also looking unlikely to go ahead next month.

OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton commented: “What promised to be a glittering summer of sport could now be in tatters. It is looks highly unlikely that the Olympics or Euro 2020 are going to be played this summer, with both looking more than likely they will be moved to 2021.

“The Grand National odds on not going ahead have got worse and it is now 80% probability that they don’t go ahead in April – but it will be a huge shame if it does not happen given Tiger Roll is going for three-in-a-row.”
