Ajax want more than £100million for their two top youngsters Frenkie De Jong and Matthijs De Ligt, but they don’t want to lose either player this season.
The Amsterdam giants realise they have two of Europe’s top young players, and they will not stand in their way – as is the Ajax way – but they want to keep them this season as they look to progress in the Champions League and also try to win their first Eredivisie title since 2014.
Sources close to Ajax have confirmed to me that ‘virtually every top club in Europe’ has spoken to them about either De Jong and De Ligt, and in many instances for both.
It is understood that Ajax are wanting €60million a piece for midfielder De Jong and centre-half De Ligt.
Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester City and Tottenham are all understood to have talked to Ajax about both players, whilst Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid are also understood to be monitoring the situation.
Ajax are open to doing a deal in January – but would insist on the pair staying with them up to the end of the season.
Bookmakers have a host of clubs linked, with Man City the current favourites with BetVictor to land De Jong, whilst Juventus are favourites for De Ligt.
