Alexis Sanchez maintains City desire

Alexis Sanchez’s desire to join Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City remains, despite interesting growing from elsewhere.

City had been on the brink of landing Sanchez on transfer deadline day having pursued him all summer, but the deal broke down with Arsenal unable to to find a replacement.

Sanchez and City were left reeling at the failure to get a deal done, but they left it knowing that their interest would be resurrected in January.

City would like to land Sanchez in the New Year transfer window, but if Arsenal won’t do business they will happily take him for free in the summer.

Arsenal insist that they will not sell in January – but they will not be able to stop Sanchez negotiating with rivals when he enters the final six-months of his contract.

Sources close to City believe they remain firmly in the driving seat to land him – despite the fact Premier League rivals Manchester City and Chelsea are understood to have asked to be kept informed of developments.

Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain, who both expressed an interest over the summer, also remain keen.

Bookmakers have reacted to news that United could be keen by slashing their odds from 10/1 into 9/2. As a result City’s odds have lengthened to 4/1 to land the Chilean in January.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “A move away from the Emirates looks likely for Sanchez next summer but United now look set to do battle with their city rivals for the Chilean – and we’d hardly be shocked to see the Red Devils priced even shorter in the coming months.”
