Alisson opts for Anfield – Liverpool odds cut

Brazilian number one Alisson has opted to join Liverpool, rejecting advances from Chelsea to seal a move to Anfield.

The deal is worth just under £70million and is a world record for a goalkeeper, and Liverpool hope to have the move completed by the weekend as the two clubs have now agreed the terms of the move.

Alisson representatives are understood to be thrashing out a long-term deal, believed to be for five-years, and he should be sealed and signed by Friday.

Chelsea were very keen on bringing the 25-year-old in as a direct replacement for Thibaut Courtois, who is almost certain to be heading to Real Madrid this summer.

Alisson will be the latest signing for Jurgen Klopp who has enjoyed a a very fruitful summer so far, already landing Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri.

Bookmakers are already reacting and Liverpool have been made clear second favourites at 9/2 for the Premier League behind champions Manchester City – who remain odds on at 8/13.

Leon Blanche, Head of communications for BoyleSports commented: “Liverpool have real made a statement of intent with their summer signings so far. it’s of no surprise to see punters get stuck into the Reds and force our traders to cut them into 9/2 from 6/1.”
