Alisson to have Premier League options

Chelsea and Liverpool are ready to battle it out for Roma goalkeeper Alisson this summer, who will cost a world record fee for a shot-stopper.

Liverpool are considering firming up their interest in the Brazilian, amid reports in Italy that they have lodged an offer of close to £70million.

Chelsea are also very keen on Alisson, but they want to make sure that Thibaut Courtois’s impending move to Real Madrid is at least at an advanced stage before committing to such a big deal – the last thing they would want is to sign Alisson and to be left with Courtois on the wage bill.

Chelsea, like many other Premier League sides are becoming increasingly annoyed with the transfer window in England being shorted – as in theory they could lose Courtois after the Premier League window shuts.

Chelsea have also been linked with former goalkeeper Petr Cech and Kasper Schmeichel – who has also been on Liverpool’s radar, as well as Stoke’s England keeper Jack Butland.

Bookmakers believe Courtois is more than likely to move to Real and he is odds on at 1/2 to make the switch to the Spanish capital.

In terms of Alisson, Liverpool have emerged as favourites at 2/5 with Chelsea at 11/4.

BetVictor’s Head of ante post Football Michael Triffitt commented: “Real Madrid are 1-2 to persuade Chelsea stopper Thibaut Courtois to swop England for Spain.

“The Blues may well be resigned to losing their keeper and have been well supported in recent days to capture Roma’s Brazilian number one Alisson Becker as a replacement. The 25/1 we opened with has long gone and with punters still snapping up the 3/1 he is now 11/4 to make this move in the summer transfer window behind long term admirers Liverpool who have eased to 2-5 favourites from 1-4.”
