Alvaro Morata believes he can be a leading striker in the Premier League and wants to remain with Chelsea, despite links with a move away this summer.
The Spanish international joined Chelsea from Real Madrid for just shy of £60million at the start of the season and he enjoyed an excellent start to his Blues career.
He has bagged 10 goals this season, but has now gone 10 games without a goal and is struggling to get into the side under Antonio Conte.
Reports have now linked with Spaniard with a move away, possibly even with former club Real Madrid – however, I have been told by sources close to the player that he is very happy at Stamford Bridge and is not looking to leave this summer.
Morata will also be aware that Conte is odds-on to leave, and it is far from clear who will be in charge of Chelsea next season.
Sources believe that Morata will concentrate his efforts on finishing the season before going to the World Cup finals with Spain.
Bookmakers, though, believe Morata could be tempted with a move away.
“Morata cut a forlorn figure as he came on as a 90th minute substitute against Man City and we think that the Blues leaving it so late despite needing a goal is the biggest indication so far that Morata will be moved on after just one season at the club,” said Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead.
