Anthony Martial remains confident of United exit

Anthony Martial is confident he can secure a summer switch away from Manchester United.

The French forward has grown increasingly frustrated with life at Old Trafford and he feels his struggles under Jose Mourinho were a primary cause for him missing out on France’s World Cup squad.

The January signing of Alexis Sanchez pushed Martial further down the pecking order, with England starlet Marcus Rashford also pushing ahead of him.

We revealed earlier this year that Martial wanted out and his agent has already confirmed he wants to leave this summer, and sources close to the 22-year-old are confident he will get his wish.

Now although United would ideally like to keep him, they are looking at their options in regards to letting him go – but it will not be at a bargain fee, for a player they have outlaid over £50million – indeed they want a profit.

Tottenham are very keen, but there is few signs of a deal being struck with Spurs having dug their heels in on their valuations of Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose.

Juventus, who have also been talking to United about Matteo Darmian, are keen on the French star along with Paris Saint Germain – and given the size of the deal there are only so many clubs who could strike a deal with United.

Bookmakers firmly believe that Martial has a very good chance of getting his wish.

Betway’s Alan Alger, said: “Away from the World Cup, we are seeing the odd rush of interest in our transfer markets and punters are hoping Anthony Martial can land a gamble by moving to Tottenham.

“Having fallen short of the starting XI for a large part of last season, the United man has been backed into 6/4 from 2/1 to move to north London and is now bigger odds to stay at Old Trafford (13/8) than he is to leave.”
