Antonio Conte odds-on to leave Chelsea this summer

With question marks being raised over the future of Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, he is now odds-on not to be in charge of the club next season.

Conte won the title in his first season last term, but this year has been more of a struggle with Manchester City already champions-elect.

Conte has been out-spoken about Chelsea’s transfer policy, which started in the summer with the high-profile failure to land Romelu Lukaku.

“I do not aim high with my requests, especially as in my history I’ve rarely been given the players I asked for,” he said.

Now with reports that Chelsea are looking to replace him this month, with the likes of Maurizio Sarri, Carlo Ancelotti and Max Allegri all linked – Conte has spoken about his future – which may very well lie away from West London.

“I have another year of contract and in this case I think the club has to decide to send me away. We are not talking about my work. The history of Chelsea is very clear. It is normal for the manager of the club to have this situation,” said Conte.

“If you won last season the League and reached the final of the FA Cup, this is the history of this club for the manager.

But Conte did insist that he would not walk away, he would only go if he is pushed.
“I am fully committed to Chelsea, to work with my players to try also to improve the club in the football aspect. I am fully committed in this and I am happy in what I am doing now and what I did in the past. But I am more happy in what I am doing now.”
Now with the rumblings over his future, Bookmakers have reacted and PaddyPower make it 5/6 that he won’t be in charge of Chelsea for the first game of next season.
And the markets on the next manager to replace Conte are up and running, with Napoli’s boss Sarri the current favourite at 5/4, just ahead of former Chelsea chief Ancelotti at 15/8.
