Antonio Conte sanctions striker moves

Antonio Conte has given the green-light to Chelsea’s striker plans – as he would be happy with either Pierre-Erick Aubameyang or Alvaro Morata.

Sources have told me that Conte believes both Aubameyang and Morata would fit into his system and would be happy with either striker – but he wants the deal pushing through sooner rather than later, having lost out on Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United.

Chelsea’s hierarchy have already spoken with Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid respectively to gauge their stances and valuations, with both players available at the right price.

Aubameyang had been in talks with Paris Saint Germain earlier this summer, and was also wanted in China – but as yet, he has stayed put, which is the same story for Morata – who saw a move to Man United fall through after they switched their sights to Lukaku.

Now Chelsea will push ahead with talks, with a deal for Aubameyang looking the most likely at this stage.

Torino’s Andrea Belotti was also discussed and Conte also admitted his admiration for him, and although Chelsea have contacted the Italian outfit, it has not progressed as far as Aubameyang or Morata.

Bookmakers have Aubameyang odds-on to move to Chelsea. SkyBet make the Premier League champions 5/6 to grab the Gabon international.

They also have Morata very short, and have him at 10/11 with Belotti rated as 7/2.
