Arsenal and Spurs ask about Dembele

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have joined the chase to land Celtic star Moussa Dembele.

The 20-year-old striker has been hugely impressive for Brendan Rodgers’s side since joining from Fulham last year. He moved to Parkhead for a nominal fee, as he was out-of-contract at Craven Cottage and moving to Scotland is a foreign transfer.

Over 30 goals have followed which have helped fire Celtic to a sixth successive title, whilst he played his part in helping them into the group stages of the Champions League.

Celtic now know they face a huge task to hang-on to the young Frenchman, who is being tracked by clubs all over Europe.

Chelsea, Manchester City and West Ham United asked about Dembele in January, and their interest remains but I have been told that both Arsenal and Spurs are now back on his trail – after both showed interest in him during his time at Fulham, but were put off by the potential asking price – although the fact is now he would cost over £20million.

Celtic are in no hurry to sell, but a big offer from a Premier League club would be hard to turn down – whilst I have also been told that Italian giants Inter Milan, along with Monaco and Paris Saint Germain from his homeland, are also closely monitoring him.

Rodgers has already sat down with the player to talk about his future plans and sources close to the situation believe the player himself is no hurry whatsoever to leave Celtic and would be more than happy to stay, indeed he could be persuaded to sign a new bumper deal at the club – even if it would still be well short of what he could earn in England.

We spoke to BetVictor about the market surrounding Dembele, and if he should leave – then Chelsea are firm favourties to land him.

“Moussa Dembele is one of the hottest forward prospects around and has had an excellent season helping Celtic to the SPL crown this term, there were rumours he was Chelsea bound during the January transfer window so as expected they are 9/4 favourites to capture him this summer,” BetVictor’s head of ante post football Michael Triffitt told TheGamblingTimes.com.

“The former Fulham man would welcome a return to the capital but looks to be in the envious position of almost choosing his own destination with a whole host of clubs expressing interest.

“Manchester United seem to be linked with everyone these days so no surprise they are the latest club to join the party but they remain a 14/1 chance at present. Tottenham hope the lure of the big smoke will assist them and they are  8/1  with North London rivals Arsenal 14/1. An intriguing market which should have many twists n turns as the summer evolves.”

FOOTBALLindex Talk – Moussa Dembele – Trading at £2.00, could still be a very good price. Whether he stays at Celtic or goes, will surely be in the news a lot in the coming months.
