Bailey’s Bullet Points

Our Football Insider Graeme Bailey looks back on the weekend’s footballing action and brings you his ‘Bullet points’….

  • CLASS ABOVE
Liverpool are looking on a different level to every other team at the moment, they really are a class act. Will the Champions League impact on them, I am not so sure – they are Championship material all over.
  • HATS OFF TO HORNETS
What an amazing display from Javi Gracia and his Watford side as they beat Tottenham to maintain their perfect start to the season. Gracia began the season as favourite for the sack race but nothing could b further from that now – amazing.
  • LUKAKU CLASS
Manchester United were never in danger of not beating Burnley on Sunday, they were dominant – but they were led wonderfully by Romelu Lukaku. He showed in the World Cup what a world-class performer he is and his performance at Turf Moor was outstanding.
  • CARDIFF CAN KEEP CHINS UP
Cardiff are yet to win since coming back up but they are not going down without a fight, that is for sure. They should have taken more from their defeat to Arsenal, and if they perform like that on a weekly basis – they will get more points than they lose.
  • BAD TO WORSE FOR PELLEGRINI
The pressure is clearly mounting on the Chilean tactician, there is no suggestion his job is in danger but pointless after four games must be a huge worry to the club.
  • PLAYERS OF THE WEEKEND
A lot of candidates but my players of the weekend would be….
GOALKEEPER – Joe Hart – Yes the England man was on the losing side, but it could have been nearly double figures for Man Utd had it not been for him.
DEFENDER – Andrew Robertson – The Scottish international is just getting better and better, and there are few better full-backs in Europe at the moment – he was outstanding again against Leicester.
MIDFIELDER – Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – Outstanding performance from the Dane as he helped inspire The Saints to a much needed win.
FORWARD – Romelu Lukaku – Simply dominating display from the United striker in their win at Burnley.
