Our Football Insider Graeme Bailey looks back on the weekend’s footballing action and brings you his ‘Bullet points’….
- LEICESTER LEGACY
The footballing world is in mourning after the tragic death of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha. But his legacy at Leicester will continue. He was a wonderful owner, who did so much for the city of Leicester not just the football club.
- CITY DO IT THE HARD WAY
Man City were not sublime in their win at Spurs, but they didn’t need to be – as great teams do, they found a way to get it done.
- JOKANOVIC – IS HE RIGHT FAVOURITE FOR THE AXE?
The Fulham boss has been made the new favourite for the sack? I am not sure that is right – I can see the likes of Mark Hughes and Rafa Benitez going before him.
- LIVERPOOL IN FULL FLOW
The Reds are getting back to their best, they are setting themselves up for a great title battle with City – this is shaping up to be a classic Premier League battle.
- GOAL OF THE WEEKEND
A great left-footed free-kick from Granit Xhaka – little doubt that was the goal of the weekend.
- PLAYERS OF THE WEEKEND
A lot of candidates but my players of the weekend would be….
GOALKEEPER – Kepa Arrizabalaga – The Chelsea goalkeeper is producing some wonderful performances at the moment and another clean sheet came his way at Burnley
DEFENDER – Issa Diop – West Ham’s summer signing is maturing into a top player, he was at his best to help The Hammers to a valuable draw at Leicester.
MIDFIELDER – Paul Pogba – A goal and an assist from the French star, showing when he wants to he can be a Premier League force.
FORWARD – Callum Wilson – The Bournemouth striker is maturing into a top Premier League player, an England call-up is surely on its way
