Barcelona new favourites for Champions League

Barcelona are the new favourites for the Champions League following the first-legs of the quarter-finals.

Barca, who have not won football’s top trophy since 2011, secured a 1-0 win at Manchester United to put themselves in the driving seat for a place in the semi-finals.

Previous favourites Manchester City suffered a 1-0 loss at Tottenham, and despite they are firm favourites to progress with their home leg to come – Bookmakers are now siding with Barca.

Ernesto Valverde’s side will face United  next Tuesday for the 2nd leg on home soil with the visitors available at 6/1 with BoyleSports. Ole

Gunnar Solskjaer believes his men can produce another miracle in the Nou Camp after their stunning display in Paris against PSG, that saw them grab a quarter-final place with a 3-1 win. Barcelona are a short 2/5 to go straight through to the semi-finals.

The Champions League market is tight now with Manchester City, Liverpool and Juventus all sharing second favouritism at 10/3 with Liverpool shortening from 4/1 after their 2-0 win at home over Porto.

Man City are 3/10 to snatch victory in the second leg next Wednesday at the Etihad Stadium with Spurs available at 9/1.

The Citizens hope of landing the historic quadruple has eased out to 7/1 now from 5/1 while they remain unchanged in the Premier League ante post market at 8/15.

Sarah Kinsella Spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “The quadruple victory is looking less likely now after Man City lost to Spurs on Tuesday night. We have made Barcelona the new 5/2 favs now for the Champions League, cut from 10/3 with the market really spicing up with Liverpool, Juventus and Man City all sharing second favouritism at 10/3.”
