Barcelona believe they are close to signing Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele.

Spanish sources have been confident for a number of weeks that Barca would land their two top targets following Neymar’s high-profile exit to Paris Saint Germain.

Liverpool’s Coutinho and Borussia Dortmund’s Dembele have both asked their clubs for moves – but thus far Barca have not been able to agree terms with the clubs.

It is understood both players have already agreed terms with Barca, and they believe they are close to landing both players – which will cost in excess of £200million,

“We are close to Coutinho and Dembele, we are discussing their conditions but we do not know when they will be sealed,” sporting manager Pep Segura told Spanish television station TV3.

“We hope they will be Barcelona players this season.”

We spoke to PaddyPower about the chances of the pair moving to Barcelona and they ads odds on, with Dembele at 1/9 and Coutinho 4/9 – with the double being 8/5.

“If Barcelona say they’re close to signing a player then they’re probably…gesturing in the midst of transfer negotiations,” said PaddyPower spokesman Lee Price.

“Dembele does genuinely look done, but there’s some doubt about whether Barca can actually afford Coutinho, too. Still hope Liverpool fans – except we make it odds-on he goes.”
