Burnley have joined the hunt to land Swansea City defender Alfie Mawson, but a number of Premier League clubs remain keen.
West Ham opened the chase earlier in the window, but they failed to strike a deal which has allowed others in – although The Hammers remain keen.
Burnley have now made an approach, but sources close to the deal believe that Everton, Leicester, Wolves and Newcastle could also compete for his signature.
24-year-old Mawson is now waiting to see how things develop, but having been called into the England squad last season – he is keen to stay in the Premier League following Swansea’s relegation.
As it stands West Ham remain favourites to land Mawson, with BetVictor making them Evens to capture him.
