Bayern Munich have not given up hope of landing Leroy Sane as their such for a new high profile wide-man continues.
Bayern have moved on from veterans Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben, and they want a new big name to take them forward.
They were one of the teams interested in Gareth Bale – but the Welshman has steadfastly refused to leave Real Madrid.
They have also made numerous bids for Chelsea starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi rejected, which is why they have now turned their attention to Sane – who has told City he would like the chance to make the move.
Sane has rejected City’s offers of a new contract – with just two years left on his current deal. Bayern have made an approach but City’s asking price in excess of £70million is too much for the German giants.
But sources believe that Bayern remain keen on landing him and are hopeful they can still strike a deal for the 23-year-old, who became increasingly frustrated by his lack of chances in the club’s big games last season.
And City boss Pep Guardiola has insinuated that the club would not force the player to stay.
“The club made him an offer last year,” said Guardiola.
“As I said many times, we want people happy to be here. We are going to help him to be the best.”
Should he leave, then Bayern are firm favourites to land him with BetVictor making them odds-on at 1/2.
