Beleaguered Baggies axe Pardew

West Bromwich Albion are looking for their third manager of the season after axing manager Alan Pardew.

Pardew was only appointed on November following the sacking of Tony Pulis, but he has overseen eight league defeats in succession, which leaves them ten points adrift of safety with just six games remaining.

First-team coach Darren Moore has been appointed interim boss, and it remains to be seen whether he will remain for the rest of the season.

With Pardew departed, a host of names are being linked – but it is former West Brom midfielder, and one-time caretaker, Michael Appleton who is early favourite for the role.

Currently assistant to Claude Puel at Midlands neighbours Leicester City – Appleton is widely understood to be under consideration, as West Brom contemplate their options with the Championship looming on the horizon.

Appleton is currently 5/2 favourite with Bet365, ahead of Marco Silva, Brentford’s Dean Smith and Aberdeen’s Derek McInnes.

bet365’s Steve Freeth “Albion and Pardew have finally parted company and the fans will be hoping for a feel-good appointment after such a disappointing season.

“The betting is dominated by a number of people connected to the club and the local area – with Appleton currently heading the market.”
