The all new Super League season is here and we preview Round 1 – starting on Thursday night.

The season opens up Wigan hosting Warrington, whilst St Helens begin their title defence at home to Salford.

Wigan Warriors vs Warrington Wolves

Betfred odds: Wigan 8/15, Warrington 7/4, Tie 22/1

Betfred says: What a game to welcome back the new Betfred Super League season! There’s very little to go on – as is the case with all games this round – but Wigan have started their campaigns particularly slowly in recent years so it could be worth chancing Wolves at the odds.

Hull KR vs Wakefield Trinity

Betfred odds: Hull KR 10/11, Wakefield 10/11, Tie 25/1

Betfred says: These two can’t be separated in the betting for a reason. With very little to go on, it could be worth siding with Wakefield who have made some shrewd signings blending youth and experience, as opposed to Hull KR who have signed TWENTY players. You would imagine they will take time to gel properly.

St Helens vs Salford Red Devils

Betfred odds: Saints 1/7, Salford 5/1, Tie 25/1

Betfred says: A repeat of the 2019 Grand Final – and it would be a surprise if we don’t see the same result. Salford are arguably weaker having lost Jackson Hastings to Wigan, and Saints, providing new head coach Kristian Woolf can get the same out of his players as the departed Justin Holbrook, have made very little changes to their squad. They should take this comfortably.

Catalans Dragons vs Huddersfield Giants

Betfred odds: Catalans 4/11, Huddersfield 9/4, Tie 22/1

Betfred says: Catalans have significantly strengthened this off-season, particularly with the acquisition of the Man Of Steel favourite James Maloney, and after threatening to make the play-offs last season they could mount a real challenge this season. They should have very few problems at home against one of the relegation favourites.

Toronto Wolfpack vs Castleford Tigers

Betfred odds: Toronto 7/4, Castleford 1/2, Tie 20/1

Betfred says: Toronto, the first transatlantic outfit to compete in the top-flight, will look to make a huge impression here. They’ve made the eye-catching signing of Sonny Bill Williams, and were so dominant in the Betfred Championship last season that they may well have enough to make it a winning start against a Castleford side who have been disappointing in recent friendlies.

Leeds Rhinos vs Hull FC

Betfred odds: Leeds 4/5, Hull FC 11/10, Tie 20/1

Betfred says: This could be a really entertaining game, with both sides having strengthened during the off-season. It’s hard to call – as the odds suggest – but the suggestion is Leeds given home advantage.
