Betting suspended on Aubameyang

Bookmakers have suspended the betting on Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng moving to Arsenal, as talks continue over a deal.

The Gunners opened dialogue with Dortmund last week, who decided earlier in January that they were ready to sell the Gabon international striker.

The 28-year-old had the option of moving to China on a big-money contract, but the switch to The Emirates is his priority and he is hoping to seal a move.

At his latest media conference, Arsene Wenger would only say that Aubameyang remains a possibility.

“You never know how close you are, it is one of the possible movements, but we have other things in mind, we have plenty of opportunities in different positions. So the final decision is not made,” he said.

“Confident or not confident, I don’t know. We are not close to a deal for Aubameyang with Dortmund or anybody else.”

Despite Wenger’s comments, a number of Bookmakers have now closed their markets after sustained money on the Dortmund man to make the switch.

“It looks like it is only going to be a matter of time now before Aubameyang is confirmed as an Arsenal player therefore on the back of a sustained gamble in the last 24 hours, we have decided to pull the plug on the market,” said Coral’s John Hill.
