Bookies punished on Premier League return

Bookmakers suffered on the opening day of the Premier League weekend, and they are already running scared of the top-two, Manchester City and Liverpool.

City and Liverpool were already clear favourites, but comprehensive opening days wins against Arsenal and West Ham respectively have seen their odds cut further.

Betway now make City 8/11, whilst Liverpool are just 7/2.

Betway’s Alan Alger, said: “The results speak for themselves this weekend. Manchester United, City, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool all winning has got our season off to the worst possible start.

“Bournemouth were the other side that were well-punted to see off relegation favourites Cardiff and that was a popular selection in a fistful of winning accumulators.

“City’s win at Arsenal was the perfect way to begin their title defence and we’ve cut them from 8/11 to 8/13 for back to back league wins, while Liverpool are now 7/2 from 9/2 having put four past West Ham.”
