Sunderland not to score again this season? Middlesbrough to be out-scored by the Premier League top-scorer? Two of the bets you can still get on the beleaguered North East pair before they are relegated.
With the North East’s current top dogs heading for the Championship, you would think that there was not much more that the two poorest teams in the top-flight could offer to the bookmakers.
But think again…
Sunderland on a run of seven games without a goal, since they smashed four-goals past Crystal Palace in early February.
Now bet365 are offering 66/1 that the Black Cats will got the rest of the season without finding the back of the net again.
Steve Feeth of bet365 told TheGamblingTimes.com: “675 minutes without a goal, their talisman Jermain Defoe not firing, it could be a long and painful end to the season for Sunderland.”
23 – Romelu Lukaku (23 goals) has now scored more Premier League goals than Middlesbrough (22 goals) this season. Perspective. pic.twitter.com/88u57UV5tL

And to Middlesbrough – their goal scoring exploits are horrendous with just 22 goals, no team in England’s top 7 divisions have scored less than Boro.
Indeed the Premier League’s top-scorer Romelu Lukaku has 23 goals, and BetVictor are offering 6/4 that whoever is the top-scorer in the top-flight, will get more than Boro.
We spoke to BetVictor’s Head of ante post Football Michael Triffitt on the market they are offering: “Middlesbrough are facing certain relegation and a glance at their remaining fixtures must put the fear of God into their beleaguered fan base.
“It seems they are doomed to joining North East rivals Sunderland in the Championship next term and with the team failing to score that has been their main downfall. At present Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has hit the onion bag one more occasion than Boro this season and we make it 6/4 he or any other premier league player actually finishes the campaign with a greater tally than the men from the Riverside!
